Dirt: Party city 🍸
Updates from The Dirtyverse...
Another way to access our Weekend Edition + we report on our own party.
Last weekend we sent out our first private Weekend Edition to everyone that referred their friends to Dirt. (If you didn’t get it, check your spam folder.) It included THIRTEEN fresh entertainment recommendations. Here is an excerpt from Kyle Chayka:
Call me a basic guy who obnoxiously loves cooking — but I am. Kenji (he needs no other) name has published a cookbook that’s again more like a textbook, but this time it covers every application of a wok you could possibly want. “The Wok” moves between different Asian cuisines, principally Chinese, Vietnamese, and Thai. You can look up a particular dish — pad thai, kung pao chicken — or you can use it to learn the fundamental techniques of wok cooking / stir fry, like velveting meat, shallow frying, or infusing aromatics. The book is so big that you need to go into it with some intention, but it’s absolutely worthwhile.
After we announced our referral program, our friends at Substack tipped us off to a new way to track referrals. From now on, if you are logged into Substack and use the share button on any Dirt dispatch, we’ll be able to see that you are sharing Dirt. That’s the button that looks like this. 👇👇👇
So, to recap, if you want to receive the Weekend Edition once a month you can:
Identify 3 Dirt-y friends
Send them each a Dirt newsletter, and CC firstname.lastname@example.org
Use the share button on any Dirt dispatch while logged into Substack
We’ll update the list monthly, so if you no longer want to receive the Weekend Edition you can unsubscribe at any time. Thanks for being part of The Dirtyverse!
In other news, we held a party during NFT NYC to bring together our media and web3 worlds. Highlights included a full spread of snacks and wine from Jadis (our favorite, no longer secret, downtown bar) and a selection of on-theme dirty cocktails with Good Vodka from our friend Mark Byrne. (The martini was a hit; there was no vodka left.)
During the evening, we caught up with our comrades from The Drift (Rebecca Panovka, Kiara Barrow and Lake Micah), former and current Dirt contributors Will Gottsegan, Drew Austin, Becca Schuh, Eileen Isagon Skyers and Helen Holmes and fellow newsletter purveyor Gabriel Snyder. (Rax King and Iva Dixit–pitch us!!)
Mirror, DMINTI, Playboy, GALLERY, Boys Club, HOLE, and more web3 communities were well-represented. Shoutout to DirtDAO member Elijah Kuhaupt for showing up in the best t-shirt ever. We gave away most of our Polaroids but kept some for the scrapbook. Check it out…
